I believe that OnGuard locks outperform Kryptonite locks dollar for dollar. A great example of that is the BIC pen trick of a few years ago where Kryptonite locks could be easily picked with a simple BIC pen, while OnGuard locks did NOT suffer from the same fate. OnGuard had and still has a more advanced locking mechanism. This OnGuard is an x2 locking mechanism, much better than most similar priced Kryptonite locks. The metal/plastic clip that carries the lock on the bike has been updated from OnGuard and works great. It has withstood a lot of abuse on my bicycle, is durable, and reliable. As for the lock size, I think this is the perfect size and I have been able to lock my mountain bike at every location I have stopped.
