3.0 out of 5 stars Good Value for Seat Bag; Compact, July 3, 2011
This review is from: Schwinn 18-Function Bicycle Tool Kit (Sports)
Picked up this 18 Tools-In-One at my local military exchange (department store). It's a bit different from the picture, but the description is the same. Here is the tool breakdown:
Allen Keys: 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm
Box Wrenches: 9mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, 15mm
Phillips & Flathead (common) screwdrivers
Spoke Wrenches: 12G, 13G, 14G [these are "notched" into the box wrenches]
8mm socket wrench
Tire lever on body [the black plastic tool "bodies" have been modified to terminate in a thin, slightly pointed & rounded-over shape; in a pinch, they could be tire levers]

Unmated, the tool kit can be stored in a space 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches; it weighs 8 oz without the pouch [which is nylon]. Mated together, the basic tool kit is 3 3/4 x 1 3/4 x 1 1/2 inches [all tools folded in]. The pouch can accommodate the tool kit mated together or otherwise.

The quality of the Allen keys is about average; they are comfortable enough to be... Read more

We are a family of six that love to ride bikes, so it seems like my weekends are spent working on a least a couple of those bikes. I wanted a tool that would keep most of what I use in one place and this was the closest I could find. I really like that it has the 15mm wrench to use on the lugs, but I do wish it also had a 14mm as well. I have already had to use it a couple of times and I am very pleased with the simplicity and ease of use. It works perfectly for little fix-it projects on bikes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Golden Oldie Cheapo, January 8, 2012
This review is from: Schwinn 18-Function Bicycle Tool Kit (Sports)
I've had this for about a decade (mine is Bell branded). Never considered it special, but I use it more than anything else. Its not a tool I go looking for: it just tends to be closest to the bike stand.

Positives: Two halves nestle together magnetically, making it fast and easy to open and use. Box wrenches (some slop, be careful). Lots of tools. No chain breaker (multitool chainbreakers are a great way to ruin a chain).

Negatives: detachable tire levers on the side are tough, but small and poorly shaped for the job. Its easy to accidentally knock them off when using other tools: amazingly, neither ever stayed lost. Only a crazy person would use the spoke adjusters, they'd mangle spoke nipples. It lacks the large hex wrench needed for tightening cotterless cranks (not an issue with pinch bolt cranks).

Conclusion: Pretty slick. Someone hinted he wanted it, I told him WalMart had them cheap. Haven't seen these at WalMart for a long time, glad its still... Read more
