I did a fair amount of online research about this item before buying it. I had owned bicycle lights years ago, but they were cheap, handlebar-mounted, battery-powered versions. I was dubious about just how much light something this small could actually generate.I do a fair amount of night riding - utilizing a combination of city streets and rural, remote paved trails. I wanted something bright enough to assist me with the sporadic street light coverage in town, while also giving me the light I needed when I was out on the unlit trail. Well, I could not be happier with this unit! In town, the MiNewt is bright enough to light the stretches between street lights, and, more importantly, it makes me VERY visible to motorists. You can actually see motorists pause slightly when you approach them! But, it's in the unlit stretches of road where this thing really excels.
