The previous reviewer is right: you need to unscrew the plastic piece a bit, then attach it, then screw it tight, and then pump. I own this and the Morph G and like the Morph better. I think it pumps better and it has a built-in gauge. The only time I plan to use a frame pump is in an emergency, and in that case it's nice to just have a built-in gauge. A floor pump like the Joeblow Pro imo is lot easier to use if you're checking/filling the tires before going out.

An important thing about this pump is that it attaches to the cup holder screws. The plastic is fairly thick and you may find that the screws to your cup holder aren't long enough to hold both the pump and the cup holder-- it happened to me. It also may get in the way of certain pedals, though I can't say that for sure. The Morph on the other hand may not work with some curved women's frames because there's no good place to attach it.

Planet Bike's customer service is very good and helpful, I just... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Pump, Confusing to Use, November 25, 2009

Upon receipt of this pump and mounting on my bike, I decided that I should use it at least once for familiarity lest I be out on the trail in winter trying to figure it out. Damned if I could get it to work. The instructions just didn't add up. Every time I got it on the valve (Schrader) it wouldn't pump and the pressure it created made it just about impossible to remove. I took the valve head apart several times trying to figure out what I was not understanding. After about an hour of fruitless attempts and many disassemblies/reassemblies I finally figured it out. It's so simple I'm embarrassed, but, I thought others might benefit from my tribulations. The secret is that when placing the valve head onto the valve, the "wing" on the head MUST be in the down position, pointing towards the valve/rim. You also must seat the head onto the valve by working it down onto the valve. It's super tight when new. Once seated, rotate the "wing" 180 degrees clockwise till it stops. It should then... The build quality is good but using it is a little ackward. Definately to be used only in an emergency. Due to it being so compact makes it great but therefore on the flip-side it is hard to pump efficiently when using it.
