I ordered this on spec fully expecting I'd have to return it due to a faulty clamp after reading several of the reviews here. Now I'm beginning to wonder if these people got the same light I did. No one has mentioned that this light comes with an additional rubber grommet that can be removed for larger bars. Is this a new addition based on user feedback? I left it in the clamp when I first attempted to install it on my mountain bike bar and it took all my effort to clamp down 2 clicks. After several night and early morning rides on some of the rockiest bumpiest trails (and even a fall), that light hasn't budged. There's just enough give that enables me to point the light a little lower for oncoming traffic or higher for more distance. Honestly I couldn't be happier with the clamp! The light defaults to medium brightness when you first turn it on. The second click on the glowing green power button brings it to high and the third to low, forth to medium, etc. Hold the... I think this item deserves 3 stars: 6 for the light unit (it's that good) and minus 3 for the handlebar mount. Finally, technological advances allowed NiteRider to combine a super bright light and battery in one affordable unit. No more hassling with separate battery packs and cables! The light itself is extremely well designed. It is lightweight, but feels solid. USB charging allows me to easily find a spare charger at the office or a friend's house. The charging port is accessible so I can leave it on the bike while charging. The control allows me to access the most desired brightness levels quickly. The unit goes to medium level (a great choice) by default when I turn it on. Repeated pushes cycle through high, low, and back to medium. Walking (extra low) and blinking modes are accessed only by holding the button down for a couple seconds, which I like because I will seldom use these modes. And of course it is very bright and clear. There is no doubt the motorists can... This is a very bright light, about the same as a car headlight on high power, but much whiter. Run time is a bit short, about 1 hour on high power, but there are lower power settings. Also has a nice flashing function for cloudy days. Mount is secure. Be careful, light gets hot. Recharges in about 4 hours with included USB cord on computer or wall adaptor (included). Also has a red diode to indicate recharge needed. |
