First! Yes, a CO2 cartridge is faster. However, you may only get 100psi out of one cartridge, so if you weigh less than 150lbs, a CO2 pump may be your thing. But if you're in the 200lb + club, you need to pump your tire to about 125-130psi, and this pump can put out a 165psi max. (BUT it will take some considerable pumping time). But you want the right pressure in your tires if you still have 40 miles to go. And the best part is the detachable head with the hose, that way when you're pumping, your not shaking around the presta valve and only concentraing on filling up the tire and getting back on the bike. Safe cycling!
