4.0 out of 5 stars 4 Star Mini-Pump (Because None Deserve 5!), February 7, 2010
This review is from: Topeak Master Blaster Micro Rocket CBT Carbon Fiber Road Bike Frame Pump with T Handle and Side Mount Bracket (Sports)
If you're reading a review about mini pumps then it is quite likely you are a weight weenie. I mean anyone carrying a mini pump can't actually be practical, can they?

While I prefer a full-size pump on the road, and a Silca floor pump is simply the best but kind of tough to carry on a bike, not all of my bikes easily mount a frame pump. In particular, I have a go-fast bike for racing, training and fast club rides. And on this bike I prefer CO2 cartridges. Bad for the environment, etc., but the time savings can be more than a little helpful. Also, it's not really practical to carry a full size frame pump on this impractical bike. But what to do if you blow your tube, use the CO2 and then get ANOTHER flat? What if this happens miles from anywhere? I can always try to bum supplies from a buddy -- if a buddy is around. Or...

Or I carry a small patch kit and a mini pump in my saddle bag along with the spare tube and CO2. And this is the mini pump. This baby gets the... Read more

The pump is well-made and finished. It fits presta valves only and this allows a lighter weight over some of the combination valve heads. The T-handle is well made and fits at least small hands like mine well. At 7 7/8" (200 mm) in length it is very compact and will fit in a jersey pocket or most saddle bags. I have not tested the water bottle mount but as noted by another reviewer, the rubber ring is a likely element to get lost or wear out in time although it is probably can be replaced with an O-ring from any hardware store. And now to the data that everyone really wants to know--how much effort does it take to pump up an average road tire? My test was on a Michelin 700 X 23 Krylion Carbon tire with a Michelin Aircomp Ultra Light A1 tube. The pump delivered around 67 psi in 250 strokes and about 100 psi in 450 strokes. That (one time) result is consistent with my previous efforts with this pump. As you would expect, the effort/stroke is much greater as the pressure in the tire... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, September 28, 2009

Lightweight, works well for a hand pump, and it stays out of the way with the supplied beside-the-cage mount.

I only have one con: It comes with a rubber o-ring to secure it into the clip (you loop the o-ring into the hooks on both sides of the clip). I don't like the fact that the o-ring just comes off the clip. It's yet another thing to keep up with when you are trying to repair your tire on the side of the road.
